Zero-access encryption · On-device AI

Privacy is not a promise.
It's the math.

Cipher is a private messenger built on the same non-custodial principle as a hardware crypto wallet — applied to your conversations. We can't read your messages. Not because we won't. Because we can't.

We store your email only to notify you at launch. Nothing else. No tracking pixels.

No phone number No data harvesting Independently audited

The problem

Every app you talk on is quietly reading you.

Most “private” apps make a promise: we encrypt your data, and we promise not to look. That promise depends on trusting a company, its employees, its future owners, and how it responds to government pressure — forever. The moment any of that changes, so does your privacy.

Read

They can read your messages on their servers — the promise not to is just policy.

Sold

What they learn about you becomes a data product, packaged and sold.

Forever

Stored indefinitely — a breach or subpoena years later still exposes it.

Cipher removes the need to trust us at all. The guarantee isn't a policy a future executive could reverse — it's a mathematical fact about how the system is built.

True zero-access

Not “we encrypt your data.” Instead: we are structurally incapable of reading it, recovering it, or handing it over — even if compelled. The same guarantee a Ledger or Trezor gives you over your crypto, applied to your conversations.

AI-native, still private

Summarization, smart replies, translation, threat detection, a real-time voice changer — an intelligent layer that never sends your data to a cloud, because every bit of inference happens locally on your device.

Signal gives you privacy. Cipher gives you privacy and intelligence — without trading one for the other.

How it works

Your keys are born on your phone — and never leave it.

01

Keys generated on-device

When you sign up, Cipher generates your encryption keys on your phone, in that moment. Not on a server. Not in our database.

02

You hold the recovery phrase

You're shown 12–24 ordinary words once. That phrase is the only way to restore your account. We don't store a copy. We can't show it to you again.

03

We only ever hold ciphertext

If our servers were fully breached, an attacker gets encrypted noise. If we're subpoenaed, we hand over exactly what we have: data we cannot read.

The whole philosophy in one sentence

It's not that we won't access your data. It's that we structurally can't.

What you get

Serious privacy. Genuinely useful intelligence.

Messaging & calling

Zero-access messaging

Keys are generated on your phone, never on a server. Every message is encrypted with keys only you hold.

Seed-phrase identity

12–24 words restore your account — no phone number, no password, nothing for a SIM-swap to steal.

Call any number on Earth

Reach landlines and mobiles worldwide at calling-card rates, with your real number masked. WhatsApp and Telegram can't do this at all.

Smart disappearing messages

On-device AI scores each message's sensitivity and sets an auto-delete timer — instead of one blunt setting for everything.

On-device AI — never sent to a cloud

On-device assistant

Summarize long group chats, draft replies in your tone, translate in real time — all running locally on a small open-weight model.

Threat detection

Flags phishing and social-engineering patterns before you reply — without sending a single word anywhere to do it.

Voice changer

Real-time voice morphing on Cipher-to-Cipher calls. Your unaltered voice never leaves the phone, in any form.

Deepfake detection

Spots AI-generated profile photos and voices, so you can catch a fake identity before you trust it.

We're precise about this on purpose. Cipher's seed-phrase design closes the one gap in Signal's model that's genuinely fixable — phone-number-anchored identity. It does not, and won't claim to, solve device theft or someone tricking you directly. No encryption does. Honesty about which is which is the whole point.

Who Cipher is for

For anyone who'd rather not be a data product.

The honest tradeoff

There is no “forgot password.” That's not a bug — it's the entire point.

If you lose your recovery phrase andyour device at the same time, nobody can get your data back. Not customer support. Not engineering. Not a court order. Real security has a real cost, and we'll tell you that plainly — more than once — instead of burying it in the terms.

You're trading a safety net for a guarantee no one can break, including us. We think that's the right trade. We want you to decide that on purpose.

Pricing

Paid from day one. Free is a trial of the privacy, not the product.

A free tier exists so you can experience the privacy and decide it's worth paying for — not to be subsidized forever by selling your data. The security architecture is identical at every tier.

Our line in the sand

What Cipher will never do.

A privacy app is only as good as the promises it refuses to break. Here are ours — stated plainly so you can hold us to them.

  • Read your messages — we built the system so we can't.
  • Ask for your phone number to create an account.
  • Upload your address book or build a social graph.
  • Sell, rent, or monetize your data. Ever.
  • Put an AI voice changer on calls to real phone numbers (it's the law, and it's right).
  • Weaken the encryption quietly — any change is announced in advance.
  • Claim to be unbreakable, anonymous, or government-proof. We're honest about the limits.

Get on the list. Be early.

Cipher is in its final build phase before an independent security audit — the gate we won't ship without. Join the waitlist and you'll be among the first invited when it opens.
